SDF’s Abdi welcomes Aqaba summit’s call for peaceful transition in Syria 

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Malzoum Abdi, expressed on Sunday his support for the final statement of the Aqaba summit held by the Arab Ministerial Contact Group on Syria.

Abdi praised the proactive Arab role in steering Syria toward a peaceful and stable future. 

In a statement on his official X platform, Abdi reiterated the importance of stopping military actions as a key step toward building a new Syria.

He added that a ceasefire, as outlined in the Aqaba statement, is critical to creating the conditions for dialogue and a peaceful Syria.

Abdi pointed out that Syria’s path to stability lies in the inclusion of all factions and the preservation of its territorial unity, which will ultimately pave the way for lasting peace.  

The Aqaba summit that was held on Saturday in Jordan called for a peaceful transition of power and emphasized the importance of upholding the rights of all Syrians without discrimination.

It highlighted the necessity of halting military operations across Syria to enable constructive dialogue.
