Field executions carried out in Syria days after fall of Assad
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Social media was abuzz with video footage depicting field executions of residents in Syria under various pretexts, such as accusations of being “Nusairis (infidels)” or “Shabih,” a term used to label loyalists of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
These actions sparked international outcry and warnings against retaliatory violence targeting individuals based on their ethnic, religious, or political affiliations.
North Press correspondent reported the killing of 27 civilians in neighborhoods and villages in Homs over the past three days, the majority belonging to the Alawite sect. The killings were reportedly driven by revenge amid a severe security collapse in these areas.
Footage circulating online on Tuesday showed armed men executing a man from the Alawite sect and mutilating his body, however, the specific location could not be confirmed.
Another video showed a member of a Military Operations Command executing two young men in the village of al-Rabiah, Hama countryside, on charges of being “infidels.”
In Homs, more videos emerged showing armed men in a crowd desecrating the body of an individual they claimed was a “Shabih” loyalist. The graphic scenes included tying the victim’s neck with a rope, dragging the body through the streets, and pelting it with stones after his death.
North Press also reported a near-complete shutdown of activity in the Christian-majority city of Mahardah in northern Hama following its capture by HTS.
