Israel carries out “largest attack operation” across Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces announced on Tuesday that they carried out the largest air operation in Israel’s history, resulting in the destruction of the capabilities of the Syrian regime forces.
Israeli media, quoting a senior security source, described the attacks as “One of the largest attack operations in the history of the air force.”
“More than 250 military targets were attacked in Syria – including bases of the Assad army, dozens of fighter jets, dozens of surface-to-air missile systems, production sites and warehouses of IMD and surface-to-surface missiles.”
On Monday, Israeli forces targeted multiple military sites across various cities in Syria. These sites had been under the control of the previous regime of Bashar al-Assad, who was overthrown by opposition factions on Dec. 8.
The source stated that aircraft, warships, and strategic facilities were destroyed to prevent them from falling into the hands of opposition forces.
Meanwhile Reuters said that the Israeli forces’ incursion extended approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Damascus.
Earlier on Monday, Israeli officials revealed plans to intensify airstrikes on advanced weapons depots in Syria. They also indicated that Israel would maintain a limited ground presence to address potential threats emerging from the power vacuum created by the ousting of al-Assad.
