AANES calls to support Lebanese refugees fleeing to Syria
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) issued on Wednesday a call for support from international organizations to assist those fleeing the ongoing conflict in Lebanon.
According to AANES statistics, the number of displaced individuals arriving into Northeast Syria from Lebanon has reached 19,613, including Lebanese nationals.
Yasser Suleiman, an AANES official, urged international organizations, human rights groups, and the United Nations to support the refugees.
Suleiman emphasized to North Press that Northeast Syria has been already affected by the consequences of regional conflicts, noting the significant number of Syrian refugees in Lebanon who are now returning to Syria.
He also highlighted the challenges posed by a blockade in the area, which has severely limited resources for providing assistance to refugees, even from the NGOs operating in the region.
