AANES forms team to support Syrian refugees arriving from Lebanon

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – An official of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced on Saturday that a dedicated team has been formed to receive Syrian refugees arriving from Lebanon.

The official, who preferred to remain unnamed, added that several families have already arrived in Northeast Syria.

In recent days, thousands of displaced Syrians have crossed from Lebanon into Syrian territories, fleeing Israeli attacks.

As the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel escalates, the number of Syrian refugees returning to Syria continues to rise.

UNHCR, the U.N. Refugee Agency, said on Friday that more than 30,000 people, mostly Syrians, fled Lebanon into Syria in the past three days due to ongoing Israeli attacks.

Among the people arriving into Syria, 80 percent are Syrians and 20 percent are Lebanese. The majority of the arrivals are women and children, UNHCR noted.

A Syrian activist recently told North Press that rent prices in safer areas of Beirut have skyrocketed from approximately $500 to around $1,500 per month due to the recent attacks.

The AANES official pointed out that the AANES would issue a statement on Sunday, providing the latest figures on refugee arrivals and detailing the plans to support them.
