SDF captures 2 ISIS members in Syria’s Hasakah
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Monday captured two members of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Hasakah Governorate, Northeast Syria.
The SDF’s Military Operations Teams (MOT) with the support of the U.S.-led Global Coalition forces conducted a security operation in the village of Sfayyan near the town of Shaddadi in the southern countryside of Hasakah.
The operation, that was conducted on Aug. 23, resulted in the capturing of two ISIS members; Issa Muhammad Has’has aka Abu Hamza, and Abdullah Muhammad Has’has aka Abu Omar, the SDF said in a statement.
The SDF added that the two captured were “responsible for several terrorist acts in the region.”
The SDF reiterated its forces’ commitment to continue the joint security operations against ISIS remnants in the region.
Recently, the SDF has ramped up its operations against ISIS cells across Northeast Syria, responding to a resurgence of the militant group’s activities.
On Aug. 23, the SDF managed to captured four ISIS members, including a woman, in the city of Hasakah.
