NGOs in NE Syria call on Turkey to protect rights of Syrian refugees
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A group of civil society organizations operating in Northeast Syria called on Turkey to protect the Syrian refugees on its territory, and urged the international community to provide support for the refugees.
In a joint statement released on Saturday, the civil society organizations urged both the Turkish government and the international community to cooperate in providing necessary support to the Syrian refugees and displaced persons, and ensure a safe and dignified life for them within Turkey.
They also demanded Turkey to combat hate speech and racist rhetoric against the Syrian refugees.
The organizations also called for “addressing the current escalation and violence against Syrians, protecting them, and addressing the challenges of Syrian asylum in Turkey in accordance with the provisions of law and international agreements.”
