Raqqa reintegration center aims for equal services for Hawl returnees

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – An official of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) said on Thursday that they are working on preparing a database to support and reintegrate the returnees from the Hawl Camp, northeastern Syria, into the local community in a fair and equal manner.

Muntasir Fahmi, co-chair of the Social Welfare Center in the city of Raqqa, northern Syria, said before the center was established, the services provided by organizations to the returnees were mostly random and targeted specific individuals repeatedly.

The AANES’ Raqqa Civil Council opened the Social Welfare Center on Jan. 29 in the city of Raqqa dedicated to the Hawl Camp returnees.

Non-governmental organizations and the AANES are working on reintegrating families of ISIS returning from Hawl.

Fahmi told North Press that they are currently in training the center’s staff in case management, strategic planning, human resources, protection, and gender equality.

According to the official, once the training is completed, the team will start preparing a database that includes all the returnees from Hawl to meet all their needs in order to provide legal and economic support in the integration process into the community.

The official pointed out they have a service map, in coordination with the Raqqa Civil Council committees and organizations operating in the area, including the Civil Documentation Office to obtain identification documents for the returnees, in addition to the Education and Health committees to facilitate the provision of services to them.
