4 government soldiers killed in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Four soldiers of the Syrian government forces were killed on Thursday night and others were injured in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

A military source of the government forces told North Press that unknown gunmen, suspected to be ISIS militants, launched a fierce attack against a military post of the Division 17 of the government forces in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The attackers used machine guns and shells, and the attack took place in the town of Shumaytiyah in the northwest of Deir ez-Zor.

The source added that the clashes resulted in the killing of three soldiers and the injury of two others.

In the town of al-Mayadin, east of Deir ez-Zor, clashes erupted between groups of the Military Security and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – both affiliated with the government forces.

The clashes resulted in the killing of a member of the Military Security and the injury of two members of the NDF, according to the source.
