Syria says Israeli airstrikes on Aleppo kill, injure several people
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian government said Israeli airstrikes early on Friday rocked Aleppo Governorate and left dozens of casualties.
“A number of civilians and military personnel were martyred and injured on Friday dawn, as a result of an Israeli aggression targeting a number of points in Aleppo countryside,” Syria’s state-run news agency SANA quoted a military source as saying.
The airstrikes were launched from the southeastern countryside of Aleppo and hit some buildings near the airport, according to sources.
“Nearly at 1:45 am, the Israeli enemy launched an air attack from the direction of Athriya, southeast of Aleppo, targeting a number of points in Aleppo countryside,” SANA said.
The military source added that the airstrikes coincided with an air attack carried out by Syrian opposition armed factions from Idlib Governorate and the western countryside of Aleppo.
Late on Thursday, a suspected Israeli missile attack targeted a building in the town of Sayyidah Zaynab, south of the capital Damascus. The building was believed to be used as a base for Iranian-backed militias.
