5 government soldiers killed in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Five soldiers of the Syrian government forces were killed on Monday as a result of an IED planted by unidentified individuals near a town in northern Daraa Governorate, southern Syria.

A local source told North Press that five members of the Ninth Division of the government forces were killed after their bus was targeted with an IED planted by unknown individuals near the town of Zimrin in the northern countryside of Daraa.

The source added that one of the killed soldiers was identified as Youssef al-Baridi, hailing from the town of Jabab in northern Daraa. His body, along with the bodies of the others, was transferred to the military hospital in Sanamayn.

The local source said that the soldiers were in the area on a mission to maintain the communication cables used by the Ninth Division.

The source pointed out that the area in which the incident took place is currently witnessing heavy deployment by the government forces, in addition to thorough searches of all private vehicles and buses.
