Bodies of 6 Syrians wash ashore in Turkey’s Antalya
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Turkish authorities have found six bodies that washed ashore over the past five days, believed to be Syrians who attempted to immigrate from Lebanon to Cyprus and went missing.
According to the Lebanese Embassy in Turkey, on Dec.11, 2023, a boat carrying about 90 people sailed from the northern coasts of Lebanon towards Cyprus. After a few hours, the boat went missing.
On Jan. 21, the Turkish province of Antalya stated that the bodies of six drowned individuals had washed up on Turkish shores. The statement added their clothes had the label “Made in Syria” on them.
The province pointed out the bodies were likely those of asylum seekers who set off from Lebanon in December 2023, to go to Cyprus before their boat disappeared.
