Syrian government raises prices of fuel products twice within week
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection increased the price of Octane 90 and Octane 95 gasoline, and diesel for the second time within a week.
The Ministry announced on its official account increasing the price of Octane 90 gasoline from 8,500 Syrian pounds (SYP, which equals about $0,56) to 10,000 SYP (about $0,66) per liter.
Additionally, the Ministry raised the price of Octane 95 gasoline from 12,430 SYP ($0,82) to 12,680 SYP ($0,84).
Meanwhile, the price of a liter of diesel in the black market increased from 10,895 SYP ($0,72) to 11,675 SYP ($0,77).
The Syrian government has raised fuel prices multiple times during 2023 in government-held areas amid severe fuel shortages and soaring prices of commodities and food products.
