AANES warns of water cutoff due to Turkish airstrikes in NE Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria, warned on Monday of a prolonged water cutoff due to ongoing Turkish airstrikes on Northeast Syria in general and on Hasakah governorate in particular.
“We emphasize the need to rationalize the use of water due to the cessation of supplying water in plants and wells and the possibility of delaying water supply,” the Qamishli Water Directorate affiliated with the AANES, said.
The Directorate attributed that to knocking the majority of power and gas facilities out of service due to Turkish airstrikes on the infrastructure of energy facilities, leading to a power outage for water plants and wells in most cities and towns in Hasakah.
On Monday, Turkey intensified its airstrikes on the city of Qamishli targeting civilian infrastructure facilities in the city center.
