Unknown gunmen target SDF headquarters in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-Z0R, Syria (North Press) – Unknown gunmen targeted on Monday headquarters and checkpoints of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
A military source of the SDF in Deir ez-Zor said that unknown gunmen targeted three SDF checkpoints located on the banks of Euphrates River between the towns of al-Kishkiyah and Tayyana in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor with machineguns, resulting in material damage.
Gunmen affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) target SDF headquarters and fighters in Deir ez-Zor, as its activity has recently increased in tandem with Iranian escalation in the governorate and Turkish attacks on northeast Syria.
In turn, the SDF launched combing campaigns and conducted patrols in the area following the attack, according to the source.
In the town of Diban, eastern Deir ez-Zor, unknown gunmen targeted an SDF headquarters in Latwa neighborhood in Diban. As a result, clashes broke out, forcing the attackers to leave.
Additionally, unknown gunmen carried out an attack on an SDF headquarters near the village of Daranj in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. No casualties were recorded.
