Turkish airstrikes cause power outage in Syria’s Kobani
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Turkey targeted on Sunday a power plant in the city of Kobani, northern Syria, knocking it out of service and causing a power outage in the city and its countryside.
Turkey continues to target the border strip and frontlines from Derik city, far northeastern Syria, to Manbij city, northern Syria, destroying infrastructure, service facilities, and residents’ properties. The Turkish airstrikes have resulted in civilian and military casualties.
“Turkish airstrikes targeted the main power plant twice, knocking the transformers completely out of service,” Aisha al-Nasser, Co-chair of the Energy Board in Kobani, told North Press.
She added that the airstrikes caused significant damages to the power plant, leading to a complete power outage in the entire city of Kobani and about 360 villages in its countryside.
