Government military personnel killed, another injured in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – A member of the Syrian government forces was killed and an officer was injured on Sunday in two separate incidents in the countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.
A local source told North Press that Omran al-Kurdi, a member of the Air Force Intelligence, affiliated with the government forces, was killed during clashes with local militants in the town of al-Musayfirah in the east of Daraa.
The source added that al-Kurdi was killed during a raid on one of the houses in the town. Later, members from the Air Force Intelligence branch were deployed in the area and set up checkpoints. He pointed out that the town is now on a state of alert.
Another local source also told North Press that First Lieutenant Ahmad Hamida was injured as a result of an IED blast near the Umawiya School in the city of Daraa.
The source added that a girl close to the scene of the blast was also injured. She was transferred to the Daraa National Hospital where one of her legs was amputated.
The source pointed out that the explosion occurred in a security area with intense presence of the government forces. The area has not been previously controlled by the opposition.
