DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – A source in the Jordanian Army announced on Saturday foiling an attempt of smuggling large quantities of drugs and weapons coming from Syria.
A military source in the command of the Jordanian Army said that intense clashes took place early on Saturday between the Jordanian border guards and large armed groups of smugglers on the northern border of Jordan.
The clashes led to the injury of one person and the arrest of several smugglers, in addition to seizing a significant amount of drugs and weapons, according to the source.
The military source added that the Jordanian forces thwarted the attempt of smuggling and pushed back the armed groups to Syrian territories.
On Dec.24, 2023, the Jordanian army thwarted a smuggling attempt and seized 537,000 captagon pills and 188 palm-sized sheets of hashish, in addition to ammunition.
