ISIS claims responsibility for 5 attacks in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility on Friday for five attacks against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
ISIS-run Amaq news agency said in a statement that on Jan.4 ISIS militants targeted with machine guns a group of SDF fighters in the town of al-Busayrah in the east of Deir ez-Zor, killing an SDF fighter.
In another statement, the agency said ISIS militants attacked with machine guns an SDF checkpoint in the village of Sabha east of Deir ez-Zor, killing an SDF fighter and injuring another.
In a third statement, Amaq said that ISIS militants targeted two SDF fighters with a machine gun in the village of al-Hissan in the north of Deir ez-Zor.
The attack resulted in the killing of one SDF fighter and the injury of another, according to the statement.
In another incident, ISIS militants targeted an SDF fighter, who was riding his motorcycle in the town of Diban in the east of Deir ez-Zor, killing him immediately.
Additionally, ISIS militants detonated an explosive device in a military vehicle of the SDF in the Hawi al-Hissan area in the north of Deir ez-Zor. The attack damaged the vehicle and the SDF fighters inside the vehicles were injured, according to ISIS-run Amaq agency.
