Unidentified gunmen kill, injure Asayish members in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unknown gunmen attacked on Tuesday evening a vehicle of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) in Deir ez-Zor Governorate in eastern Syria, leaving casualties.
The attack that took place in the village of Meheimideh in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor resulted in the killing of one member of the Asayish and the injury of another.
A military source from the village said unknown gunmen, riding a motorbike, opened fire on a vehicle of the Asayish.
The source told North Press that the attack led to the killing of Ahmad al-Othman, 28, and the injury of another member.
There is a surge in the activities of the sleeper cells of the Islamic State group (ISIS) in Deir ez-Zor that usually result in the assassination of members of the Asayish and fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
