CSOJTF-L, SDF detain ISIS official in Syria’s Hasakah
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Combined Special Operations Joint Task Force – Levant (CSOJTF – L) announced on Sunday detaining a communication official of the Islamic State (ISIS) in cooperation with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria.
The CSOJTF – L said on X platform that they, along with partner forces, captured in an operation conducted on Dec. 28, 2023, an ISIS official “responsible for gathering intelligence and communication for Daesh operations in the Syria-Iraq border region.”
Maj. Joseph Booth, a spokesperson for the CSOJTF – L, said, “This operation reaffirms Combined Special Operations Joint Task Force – Levant’s and its partner forces’ steadfast commitment to the region and the enduring defeat of Daesh.”
He added that detaining this person will disrupt ISIS’ ability to plot future operations that threaten U.S. citizens, the SDF, and innocent civilians.
The CSOJTF – L’s statement stressed they will remain in the region to “continue counter threats against regional security.”
