3,300 drug dealers arrested in NE Syria in 2023 – Asayish  

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Anti-Drug Forces of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) said on Sunday they launched 1,946 operations in pursuing drug dealers and smugglers.

The Asayish announced they arrested 3,300 people in 2023 including 172 drug smugglers, 2,165 drug users, and 963 drug dealers.

The Anti-Drug Forces of the Asayish added they seized more than two million narcotic pills, injections, and hashish, in addition to other related materials.

In an exclusive statement to North Press in November, Hassan Kano, member of the General Administration of Anti-Drug Forces said, “We welcome international and regional initiatives aimed at combating drug-related issues and eradicating this detrimental phenomenon in northeast Syria.”
