Turkish airstrikes attack 11 checkpoints in NE Syria – Asayish
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) said on Wednesday the Turkish airstrikes that targeted 11 security posts in northern Syria threaten the re-emergence of the Islamic State group (ISIS).
In a press conference held in the city of Raqqa in northern Syria, the Asayish said Turkey attacked 11 of its checkpoints; six in the city of Kobani, four in the city of Qamishli, and one in the town of Amuda.
The airstrikes resulted in the injury of three members of the Asayish, according to Ali al-Hassan, Asayish spokesperson.
He said that targeting the checkpoints may pave the way for the re-emergence of ISIS in the region, and that it aims at spreading horror and creating security chaos in coincidence with the Christmas holiday.
Al-Hassan indicated that controlling the security situation in the region is not a threat to Turkey, confirming the continuation of their work in stabilizing the region.
Since Dec. 23, Turkey has launched brutal airstrikes against civilians, and service and vital infrastructure facilities in northern and northeastern Syria, leaving behind casualties. The airstrikes targeted about 50 sites.
