Qamishli residents protest against Turkish attacks in NE Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Thousands of residents of the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria, protested against Turkish attacks in northeastern Syria, urging global intervention to curb these strikes.
Turkey has escalated shelling and bombing in northern Syria, striking vital infrastructure facilities and causing civilian casualties.
The protest originated from the Qarmuti Roundabout in Qamishli and started calling for swift international action.
Protesters carried banners denouncing the assaults and appealed to human rights organizations and the international community to prevent Turkey from civilians and vital facilities.
Taiba Ismail, a resident of Qamishli, said that they protested today to raise their voices to the world, urging an end to Turkey’s ongoing attacks on the region.
They called on international and human rights organizations to intervene promptly and prevent Turkey from targeting civilians.
Layla Ibrahim from Qamishli also stated that Turkey’s primary objective is to undermine the security and stability of the region. She pointed out that, on Monday, Turkey targeted the vicinity of Allaya prison in Qamishli, which holds Islamic State (ISIS) detainees, as well as other vital facilities.
She emphasized that Turkey’s objective is to sow chaos and instill fear among the residents, with the intention of forcing them to flee their areas.
