2 killed, 3 injured in 2 separate tribal clashes in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two separate incidents of tribal clashes led on Saturday to the killing of two individuals and the injury of three others in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
Nawaf al-Abid, a local resident, said a dispute among kinsmen from al-Shaitat tribe, which is part of al-Uqaydat tribe, escalated into a clash due to an old vendetta near a market in the town of Gharanij in the east of Deir ez-Zor.
The clashes resulted in the killing of Hamad al-Himedi al-Hayis, 31, who is the third victim of the same family since the beginning of the blood feud two years ago, Al-Abid added.
Meanwhile, another tribal clash erupted between two families from the al-Bakir tribe following verbal altercations in the town of al-Busayrah in the east of Deir ez-Zor. Light and medium machine guns were used during the clash, according to a source from the town.
The clash led to the killing of Ahmad Suleiman al-Hamada, 39, and the injury of three others amid ongoing tension between both sides. Moreover, residents in the town called on tribe leaders to intervene and resolve the conflict, the source said.
