Activists in north Aleppo protest judicial corruption of opposition

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Human rights activists in the town of al-Rai, in northern Aleppo Governorate, protested on Monday against judicial corruption at the al-Rai Court, affiliated with the Interim Government, the political wing of the Turkish-backed Syrian opposition.

A member of the opposition-linked Lawyers Association told North Press that dozens of lawyers, journalists, and local activists in the town of al-Rai organized a protest in front of the court. Their demands included combating judicial corruption and revealing the whereabouts of the disappeared detainees.

He added that during the protest, they were attacked by the Turkish-backed Civil Police faction, who targeted the protesters and destroyed the equipment of journalists present to cover the protest. Moreover, several participants in the protest were arrested.

An official in the Civil Police in al-Rai stated that their forces arrested a number of journalists, and human rights activists and transferred them to their prison in the town.
