Turkey deports 1,200 refugees to northwest Syria in single day

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish authorities have deported on Tuesday 1,200 Syrian refugees, including women and children, via four border crossings between Syria and Turkey in north and northwest Syria.

Administrative sources at the crossings where the deportations took place revealed that the Turkish authorities deported 1,200 Syrian refugees through the crossings of Tel Abyad, Jarablus, Bab al-Salameh, and Bab al-Hawa in north and northwest Syria.

According to the sources, 240 Syrians were handed over by Turkey to the Turkish-backed Syrian opposing factions, aka the Syrian National Armey (SNA), through Tel Abyad crossing in northern Raqqa, north Syria, and they were kept in accommodation centers for further investigation.

Furthermore, the sources reported that the Turkish authorities had deported more than 550 refugees, including women and children, to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) through the Bab al-Hawa crossing, northwest Syria.

In addition, 210 individuals were deported through Bab al-Salameh crossing, north of Aleppo, and other 200 refugees were deported through Jarablus crossing.

The deportation process took place after the Turkish authorities confiscated their identification documents and took their fingerprints and iris scans, according to the sources.

This represents the highest daily deportation toll recorded by the crossings in northern and northwestern Syria.
