AANES hands over 96 of ISIS to Kyrgyzstan in northern Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced that they had handed over, days earlier, a group of 96 children and women linked to the Islamic State (ISIS) to a Kyrgyzstani delegation.

The delegation was headed by Bakit Kadyrov, representing the Kyrgyzstani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to a handover document between both sides, the AANES handed over 69 children and 27 women from ISIS-affiliated families to the Kyrgyzstani delegation.

Khaled Ibrahim, an official at the Foreign Relations Department of the AANES, stated that the AANES will continue to collaborate with Kyrgyzstan and all countries with citizens and children in its regions.

He added that the repeated Turkish attacks on northern Syria provide an opportunity for ISIS sleeper cells to reorganize themselves and carry out operations.

Meanwhile, Kadyrov stated that Kyrgyzstan recognizes the sacrifices made by the AANES and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the fight against ISIS and expressed gratitude for their efforts in repatriating nationals of the Asian republic.

On Saturday, the US-led Global Coalition applauded efforts made by the AANES and the SDF in repatriating 96 women and children from camps in northeastern Syria.
