Unknown gunmen attack government forces in Syria’s Homs
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unknown people carried out on Friday an armed attack on a vehicle of the Syrian government forces in Homs Governorate, central Syria, killing an officer and injuring two soldiers.
Unidentified gunmen targeted the vehicle of officer Nazir al-Hassan with machineguns while leaving his workplace in Ishara Battalion, affiliated with the Syrian government forces, in the village of Shinshar, southern Homs, according to a military source in the government forces.
The source told North Press that the attack resulted in the killing of al-Hassan and two of his companions, while the gunmen fled.
Al-Hassan hails from the city of Jableh, southern Latakia Governorate, on the Syrian coast, according to the source.
Following the incident, the government forces imposed a curfew in Shinshar and raided neighborhoods within it.
