Organizations arrange event for diabetic children in Syria’s Raqqa

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, in commemoration of World Diabetes Day, Mari Association for Culture, Art, and Environment, in collaboration with the Balloon Organization, organized a sports and recreational event for children with diabetes in Raqqa Governorate, in northern Syria.

The event was attended by 60 diabetic children, along with their families, as well as the Raqqa Cycling Team. The marathon started from a diabetes center for children in the city center and ended at the Free Woman Square.

Jalaa Hamzawi, an administrator at the Diabetic Children’s Club in Raqqa, said that the club has been established and prepared for seven months.

She stated that they were arranging this event in observance of World Diabetes Day, adding that it aimed to promote awareness of the Diabetic Children’s Club among the local community, Civil Society Organizations, and parents who have not yet enrolled their children affected by diabetes in this club.

Hamzawi further added that the event commenced with a 30-minute walking marathon along the streets of Raqqa, which was followed by engaging recreational activities and competitions.

She noted that these activities aim to provide moral and psychological support to sick children and encourage them to live their lives without fear of the disease.

Hamzawi called on health care organizations to support the Diabetic Children’s Club, as it is in dire need of assistance.

At the conclusion of the event, Mari Association and the Balloon Organization presented gifts to the children who took part in the event.
