CENTCOM says 15 anti-ISIS operations launched in Syria, Iraq
ERBIL, KRI, Iraq (North Press) – US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday carrying out 15 operations against the Islamic State (ISIS) since Oct. 7, coinciding with the start of the war between Israel and Hamas.
These operations came amid a series of attacks launched by the Islamic resistance in Iraq militia against US forces in both Iraq and Syria, as the conflict in Gaza started escalating.
The CENTCOM stated on its “X” platform, “since October 7, 2023, combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve and their partners, conducted a total of 15 defeat ISIS operations resulting in two operatives killed and 27 detained.”
These operations are carried out while US forces in the Middle East have been on high alert since Oct. 7, due to continuous airstrikes on their positions in Syria and Iraq, as well as threats of regional escalation amid the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel.
The CENTCOM did not specify the details of the operations in terms of whether they were in Syria or Iraq. They confirmed their commitment to the “enduring defeat of ISIS”.
