Hawl Camp prepares to transfer IDPs back to Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – An official in the Hawl camp in the countryside of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, said on Monday they started registering IDP families from Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria, and taking the security measures to transfer them back to their areas.
The Deir ez-Zor Civil Council, affiliated with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), held on Sunday, a conference titled ‘Enhancing Security and Stability towards Development and Consolidation of Cooperation in Deir ez-Zor’, to fulfill promises made by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to improve the conditions of Deir ez-Zor’s residents and address their demands following the security tensions that occurred in late August and early September.
One of the outcomes of the conference was to regularly and periodically transfer the Deir ez-Zor families present in the Hawl camp.
Hawl Camp, 45 km east of the city of Hasakah, is houses 55,829 individuals, including 28,725 Iraqis, 18,850 Syrians and 8,254 of foreign nationalities, according to the latest statistics obtained by North Press.
The source told North Press that the date for the transfer of the first batch is not set yet until registration is complete.
The families that will be transferred from Hawl camp are the ones that reside in AANES-held areas, he noted.
