SNA militant rapes minor girl in Syria’s Afrin
AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – A member of the al-Hamzat Division, a faction of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA), raped on Friday a minor girl in the city of Afrin in northwest Syria.
An exclusive source told North Press that Muhammad Juma’ raped a 14-year-old girl from the village of Jweiq of Afrin region in Aleppo northern countryside. Then, he ran away to the town of Jindires to shelter himself.
The source said that the girl was with special needs, and that the militant raped her at gunpoint.
He added that the village witnessed an alarm after the incident, however, the faction he belongs to refused to hand him over.
“The militant Muhammad made use of the bad situation of the girl’s father who is blind and 93 years old,” Afrin Post, a local website, said.
Afrin has been under the occupation of Turkey and the SNA factions since 2018 following a military operation dubbed “Olive Branch” against the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) under the pretext of preserving Turkey’s national security.
The operation caused the displacement of about 300,000 of the original inhabitants of the Kurds of Afrin who have been taking shelter in 42 villages and five camps in Aleppo northern countryside, locally known as Shahba region, since then.
