175 Iraqi families leave Hawl Camp

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – 175 Iraqi families departed on Wednesday from Hawl Camp in Northeast Syria in coordination with the Iraqi government.

A source from the Hawl Camp confirmed to North Press that the families’ exit was organized with the support of Iraqi authorities.

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Migration and Displacement, Karim al-Nouri, stated in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that individuals with security concerns or blood on their hands would not be allowed to return to Iraq, referring specifically to Iraqi nationals residing in the Hawl Camp.

“Around 4,000 Iraqis have indeed returned, while approximately 15,000 remain in the camp,” al-Nouri said.

This latest departure marks the 18th coordinated effort between the Iraqi government and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), and the fourth since the beginning of 2024.
