Turkish border guards target people on border with Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, Turkish border guards shot at people, wounding three including a child, while they were trying to cross to Turkey near the village of Kherbet Eljoz north of Idlib, northwest Syria.
A local source from Kherbet Eljoz near the Syrian-Turkish border said, “This day in the morning, Turkish border guards shot at people while they were trying to cross the border towards Turkey from Kherbet Eljoz.”
The shooting resulted in the wounding of Odai al-Saloum, 27, Marwan al-Saloum, 33, and Bilal al-Omari, 6, and they were transferred to Syrian hospitals in the region.
The Turkish border guards directly fired on the people without warning them to return when they arrived at the border wall, according to the source who added that the wounded were left at the place where they were targeted until medics “from the Civil Defense, operating in the opposition areas, arrived to rescue them.”
The Turkish border guards continue to shoot at civilians, who want to cross into Turkey looking for a better future or those who work on their nearby lands.
