Turkish border guards wound 4 civilians in Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Four civilians, including a pregnant woman, were injured on Monday by Turkish border guards’ gunfire while they were attempting to cross the border into Turkey near the town of Khirbat al-Jouz in northern Idlib, northwest Syria.

A local source informed North Press that emergency teams transferred three young men and the pregnant woman from the border point, north of Khirbat al-Jouz, to one of the hospitals in the region. They were shot at from a Turkish border guard post on the border.

The source added that the remaining people who tried to cross the border managed to escape and return safely to the Syrian side.

The shooting, the source said, was carried out without prior warning, unlike what used to happen before.

The pregnant woman has a life-threatening back injury, while the three young men have moderate injuries, the source noted.
