UAE reveals outcome of 100 days of providing aid to Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The United Arab Emirates announced on Tuesday that Operation Gallant Knight 2 has completed its 100th day in Syria. The operation was launched in the wake of the Feb. 6 earthquake to provide aid to quake-affected people.
The state-run news agency stated, “181 aircraft carrying 5,727 tonnes of essential food supplies, medicines and medical equipment and three ships carrying 5,429 tonnes were dispatched, totaling 11,156 tonnes of aid.”
The UAE’s search and rescue team “spent nearly 240 hours working in rescue operations involving some 42 people,” the agency said.
Despite the large amount of aid dispatched to Syria, quake-affected people complain about not receiving any, amid accusations against the Syrian government of weaponizing the aid.
