DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad received a formal invitation from the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to attend the Conference of the Parties on Climate (COP28).
The UAE embassy in Damascus twitted, “Al-Assad received Abdul Hakeem Al-Nuaimi, the Chargé d ‘affaires of UAE embassy in Damascus.”
Al-Nuaimi delivered the invitation sent by UAE’s President to attend the COP28 held in Dubai between November 30 and December 12.
On May 10, al-Assad received a formal invitation by Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz to attend upcoming Arab summit in Jeddah on May 19.
The Syrian president has received formal invitations to attend regional summits since his readmission to the Arab League on May 7 almost a decade of suspension.
