Syria “very bad” for journalism – Reporters Without Borders

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – In its annual report, released on Wednesday, on press freedom, Reporters Without Borders classified Syria as one of the “most dangerous” places for journalists and warned that journalism is “threatened by fake content industry.”

The organization ranked Syria in the 175^th place in its list which included 180 countries.

According to the report, Tunisia, Senegal and even Germany are among the countries that dropped in the index. Norway remains in the lead for the 7^th consecutive year and North Korea took the bottom of the list.

Political actors in 70 percent of these countries are often “systematically involved in massive disinformation or propaganda campaigns,” said the report. In them, “the difference is being blurred between true and false, real and artificial, facts and artifices, jeopardizing the right to information.”
