44,000 Syrians arrive from quake-affected Turkey
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Over 44,000 Syrians have arrived in Syria from Turkey in the past two months following the disaster of Feb. 6 earthquake.
The number of arrivals coming through the Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Turkey in northern Idlib, northwest Syria, from the quake-stricken Turkish areas reached approximately 21,000 after the issuance of an exemption for quake-affected Syrians to return to their country for a visit.
The administration of the Bab al-Hawa border crossing announced 154 Syrians entered on the day 59th after Turkish authorities allowed Syrians with temporary protection cards (Kimlik) in the quake-stricken Turkish provinces to return, bringing the total number of arrivals to 21,000.
The total number of Syrians arriving in northwest Syria from the Bab al-Salameh border crossing in northern Aleppo reached 15,698 until Friday.
In the Tel Abyad border crossing in northern Raqqa, 8,653 newcomers arrived in that timeframe, according to daily statistics published by their official social media accounts.
At dawn on Feb. 6, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit northwestern Syria and southern Turkey, killing more than 50,000 individuals and injuring many more. The earthquake also caused immense destruction of buildings, trapping thousands under the rubble.
