8 aid, drug trucks enter Syria for quake-affected people
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, eight trucks loading food products and drugs for people affected by the Feb. 6 earthquake entered Syrian territory through Nasib border crossing with Jordan.
Shadi Aba Zayed, head of Nasib border crossing, said, “The aid consists of seven trucks provided by the Syrian Embassy in Kuwait that are loaded with different aids, including food, drugs, formula and diapers for children.”
Aba Zayed added that there is another truck provided by Food House in Jordan, the truck is loaded with packages of formula, noting that the load will be distributed to the earthquake-affected people.
Days ago, Syrian Red Crescent received ten trucks provided by the Jordanian government for people affected by the earthquake.
At dawn on Feb. 6, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit northwest Syria and southern Turkey, killing thousands and injuring many more. The earthquake also caused immense destruction of buildings, trapping thousands under the rubble.
The earthquake claimed the lives of about 4.500 people in northwest Syria, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) said on Feb. 20.
