Bodies of SDF victims of helicopter crash in KRI repatriated to NE Syria
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Bodies of nine Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters, who lost their lives in the helicopter crash in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), were repatriated, the SDF Media Center announced on Tuesday.
The SDF said in a statement that following a series of contacts, the SDF managed to bring home bodies of the nine SDF Counter-Terrorism Units (YAT) fighters, who lost their lives in a helicopter crash in the KRI.
On March 15, the fighters were traveling to Sulemaniyah within the framework a security and military exchange in order to boost YAT’s security and fighting abilities, according to a statement released by the SDF on March 17.
A number of the SDF fighters, accompanied by the SDF General Command, transferred the bodies to Hasakah.
SDF announced on Monday that an official farewell ceremony will be held on Wednesday, March 22 at 11:00 am, for the nine SDF fighters in front of Martyr Sarya Hospital in Ghweiran neighborhood in the city of Hasakah.
The SDF noted that official and public delegations from all areas of northeast Syria, as well as the SDF partners in the war against terrorism will participate in the ceremonies.
