Asayish start security operation against ISIS cells in Syria’s Qamishli
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) launched a security operation in the neighborhood of Allaya east of the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria, in search of Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells.
A security source from the Asayish told North Press that their forces have deployed since early morning in search of ISIS sleeper cells, forbidden weapons, and drugs.
The Asayish also imposed a curfew in the neighborhood before launching combing and inspection operations.
It is worth mentioning that a prison where ISIS militants are held is located inside the neighborhood, which witnessed tension and security unrest days ago.
On the same day, commandos units of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) deployed in the vicinity of al-Sinaa Prison and a nearby US base in Hasakah city, coinciding with information, indicating that ISIS affiliates are preparing for riots in the prisons and in the Hawl Camp, which holds around 50.000 of the family members of ISIS militants.
