Arab Inter-parliamentary Union to send delegation to Damascus
ERBIL, KRI, Iraq (North Press) – On Saturday, the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, in the final statement in its 34th conference, announced the formation of a delegation to visit Syria to affirm its support to those affected by the Feb.6 earthquake.
The final statement stressed on working hard for Syria’s stability and the rehabilitation of its infrastructure, and for the return of Syrians brothers, who were displaced by the war, to their homes and country.
The one-day 34th conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union kicked off in Baghdad on Saturday with the participation of 18 Arab countries and observers represented by international organizations.
The president of the Arab Parliament Union and speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, called on Arab countries to take a final decision to “return Syria to the Arab fold.”
The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union touched on all Arab issues, including Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and the rest of the Arab countries that are experiencing crises.
The participants also focused on defeating terrorism and extremism and supporting Iraq in confronting the Islamic State (ISIS).
