Mazloum Abdi Condemns Vandalism of Syriac Monument in Qamishli city

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Mazloum Abdi condemned on Saturday the destruction of a monument – related to the 1915 Syriac-Aramaic genocide – in the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria.

On early Saturday, unknown people vandalized a Syriac monument known as the “Sayfo Roundabout” in the al-Quwatli Street in the city of Qamishli.

Abdi said in a tweet that vandalizing the monument is “unacceptable.”

This act, Abdi said, is an “attack on Syriac martyrs to create regional tensions.”

“We condemn such hateful attacks and affirm the friendship and solidarity of the people of our region,” Abdi concluded.
