51 buildings demolished by Aleppo council to avert further calamities
ALEPPO- (North Press) – A source in Aleppo’s Municipal Council told North Press that 51 dilapidated buildings have been demolished since the earthquake hit north Syria on February 6.
The source told North Press that teams are preparing to demolish three more buildings damaged in the recent quake.
According to the Head of Aleppo’s Forensic Medicine Center, Hashim Shlash, quoted by the pro- government al-Watan newspaper, 444 deaths were recorded in the governorate of Aleppo up until Monday.
The Municipal Council source added that 60 buildings have collapsed in the city since February 6.
Eastern neighborhoods of the city of Aleppo, notably al-Saliheen, al-Fardos, Bustan al-Qasre, and al-Kalasah are mostly affected.
According to the committee tasked with surveying the damge, 2.000 buildings in the city could face the same fate, after they are checked by specialists.
