Rescue operations come to end in Syria’s Latakia – Russian ministry
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Russia announced on Sunday the end of search and rescue operations for survivors under the rubble in Latakia governorate, western Syria.
Russian Deputy Emergencies Minister Alexey Serko said on Sunday, “The rescue operation to save survivors is over.… However, humanitarian assistance continues,” he said.
Serko added that 57 accommodation centers have been established for those affected in the earthquake and that help is being provided to everyone.
He noted that Russian rescue teams have participated in delivering humanitarian aid and in training rescuers and firefighters in Latakia and Jableh.
