AANES starts Fundraiser for Earthquake Devastated Areas
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) started a fund-raiser campaign for areas devastated by the deadly earthquake that hit Syria and Turkey which caused massive human casualties.
In a press conference held in the 12 March stadium in the city of Qamishli, Hikmat Habib, co-chair of the Legislative Council of the AANES, announced the start of the campaign under the slogan ‘Together for Humanity.’
Habib called on the people of northeast Syria, especially Hasakah and Qamishli to donate to shelter tents set up in all towns and cities. “We have to stand by our people during this catastrophe,” he said.
The campaign started on Thursday and will continue until Feb. 20, according to the official.
On Wednesday, the AANES sent oil tankers to the Umm Jloud crossing in Manbij, east of Aleppo for devastated areas. However, they are still awaiting permission from the Syrian opposition to pass.
The death toll for the earthquake that struck Syria on February 6 has risen to more than 3.583 people and the injury of more than 6.342 in a provisional count.
