Syria’s Manbij health body mobilizes emergency teams in case of earthquake
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, an official in the health committee in the city of Manbij, northern Syria, said after the earthquake that shocked Syria at dawn on Feb. 6, the committee has taken procedures in anticipation of any emergency or new earthquakes.
Since Monday, aftershocks following the devastating earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey have been felt across Syria.
The 7.8-magnitude earthquake killed thousands and injured much more. The earthquake also caused immense destruction of buildings, trapping thousands under the rubble.
The death toll of those killed in Syria in the earthquake has reached 3.583 people, while 6.342 were injured.
Fayad al-Hassan, an official in the Euphrates Hospital in Manbij, said the health committee of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) formed emergency teams, consisting of ambulances, nurses and health awareness teams to intervene and hospitalize wounded in case of any emergency.
These teams conduct intensive visits to accommodation centers and tents situated in the city and give health awareness advices to residents about how to deal with wounded and provide first aid to the wounded and patients, according to al-Hassan.
He added that the teams, also, pay visits to dispensaries in Manbij countryside to provide medical and moral support to villagers.
He stressed that the health committee and the Euphrates Hospital are ready to meet all demands by residents and that the medical teams are ready to deal with any emergency.
