Tel Aviv secretly supports Ukraine for its own reasons – Israeli diplomat

DAMASCUS, (North Press ) – On Saturday, Israeli Ambassador to Germany Ron Prosor said Israel has provided more support to Ukraine to fend off Russia’s invasion than is publicly known.

“We help – albeit behind the scenes – and much more than is known,” the diplomat said in an interview with the German newspaper Morgenpost, according to Ukrinform.

Israel’s Foreign Minister Eli Cohen has recently pledged Kyiv to continue humanitarian aid.

When asked about the reasons behind keeping their support secret, Prosor said, “It’s not that simple. We have the Russians in Syria.”

“As you know, the Israeli army regularly blocks arms shipments from Iran to Syria and Lebanon. These include Iranian drones and missiles that Russia is using in Ukraine.” Prosor continued.

The second reason, Prosor said, is the presence of a large Jewish community in Russia.

Late in November, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked Israel to secure his country an air defense system. Israel categorically rejected to deliver any weapons to Ukraine.
